Chapter 1: What Is The Secret Laboratory Map? ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Secret Laboratory Map is a basic treasure map but with a slight twist. Once all 9 pieces of the Lab Map have been attained you get access to what else than the Secret Laboratory. Once you have completed the Lab Map its good for 1 zap on 1 pet every day forever. So basically you can use it once a day forever, but you only have to buy the whole map once.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 2: Obtaining The Lab Map ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The lab map, like any other map, is obtained by purchasing each of the 9 pieces from a user shop. Rarely you will get a random event in which you will get but it is highly unlikely for you to get all 9 pieces with a short period of time.
As of August 3rd 2003, the average Lab map set (all 9 pieces) is worth about 240k-250k. A single piece is worth 25k-30k.
After buying all 9 pieces of the Lab Map go to Games > Puzzles > Treasure Maps > Secret Laboratory. All the pieces will be automatically filled in for you and walla! You've obtained access to use the Secret Laboratory.
Chapter 3: Gains From The Lab Map ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There are 3 big gains you can receive from the lab map those are Stat Increase, Color Change, and Species Change. Continue reading into the further sections to learn more about gains from the Secret Lab.

~~Section 1~~

To my knowledge your neopets can be changed to ANY color using the Secret Laboratory. Although this is completely random it can turn out to be quite a surprise. Below is a list of the colors that a pet can be painted using the lab.

========
Red
Yellow
Green
Blue
Purple
White

Rainbow
Silver
Glowing
Striped
Shadow

=============

Note that all Chia colors are fruit and ONLY Chia's can be painted that way. The only other way of getting a fruit colored Chia is by feeding it a magical Chia pop.

Currently the only colors available through the Lab Ray are Jelly and Robot. The rest of the colors can be obtained through Morphing potions or Paint Brushes.

Neopets released a "Sponge Grundo" But I'm not totally sure if that is an actual color. If anyone has a sponge Grundo please let me know so I can update this FAQ.

~~Section 2~~

The biggest reason that people get the Lab is for the frequent stats that it increases. Very often will you gain stats from it, and eventually the lab almost pays for itself. Besides neggs this is one of the fastest ways of training your Neopets.

~~Section 3~~

The Lab can also change the species of your pet. More often then not a pet will change color when changing species too. Using the lab is the easiest and cheapest way to get those limited edition, or restricted pets.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 4: Potential Losses From The Lab ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yes the ol' lab can hurt you just as much as it can help you. Occasionally the lab map can take away stats from you. It usually only takes away levels, strength, defence, and movement. I don't recall it EVER taking HP away from anyone.

The worst stat change of all is when your neopets gets zapped and goes back down to level 1. On a high level pet it could take quite a while to get back to where it was.

That's not the only way it can hurt you. Let's say you have a really cool looking painted pet and you decide to use the lab on it once more and it changes into a boring color. This happens to many people. That's why most people stop "labbing" after they get the color they desire (which is usually Robot).

The lab can also change the sex of your neopets. I don't think this is very bad or anything, but it can bug a lot of people to have a female or male Neopets.

Chapter 5: Secret Laboratory Research ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many, Many Different sites have researched the lab by keeping a record of the
Labs actions on there pet. One site I know of with pretty accurate
Information about the lab is neogamers. You can visit the results by
